HC Deb 18 May 1908 vol 188 c1641
MAJOR RENTON

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War, if he will cause instructions to be issued that no unit of the Territorial Forces is to be inspected on more than one day during their annual training unless under exceptional circumstances.

MR. HALDANE

It is not considered desirable to issue definite regulations on this point. It is held that economy of time and thoroughness of inspection are more likely to be obtained by leaving the matter in the hands of the General Officers Commanding-in-Chief, to whose interest it is that no more time shall be lost to training than can be possibly avoided.
