MR. DUNDAS WHITE (Dumbartonshire)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade, what were the amounts of hops imported into the United Kingdom during the year 1907, from British Possessions and from foreign countries, respectively.

MR. CHURCHILL

During 1907, 199,222 cwts. of hops were imported into the United Kingdom from foreign countries, and 3,102 cwts. from British Possessions.

In the proposals that have been made to the right hon. Gentleman for taxing imported hops, is it proposed to tax Colonial hops as well as foreign hops?

MR. CHURCHILL

No proposals have been made to me to tax imported hops.
