HC Deb 18 May 1908 vol 188 c1611
MR. LANE-FOX (Yorkshire, W.R., Barkston Ash)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in view of the destruction of woods sold under the Irish Land Act of 1903, he is prepared to consider whether any legislative action can be taken to prevent the further destruction of existing woodlands and plantations in Ireland.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) I would refer the hon. Member to the Report of the Departmental Committee on Irish Forestry which has been laid before Parliament. The recommendations of the Committee are at present under the consideration of my hon. friend the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture, and the question of legislation will in due course receive the consideration of the Government.
