To ask the hon Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether he can give the number of cattle returned as entering during the year 1907, the markets at the places scheduled under The Markets and Fairs Act, 1891, and how they compare with the numbers in each of the years 1902 to 1906.

(Answered by Sir Edward Strachey.) The number of cattle returned as entering the markets scheduled under the Markets and Fairs Act, 1891, are as follows:—

1907 1,231,501
Certain additional markets were scheduled in 1005 by an order under the Act, but the Returns from them have included in the above figures.
