HC Deb 14 May 1908 vol 188 c1353
MR. PIRIE (Aberdeen, N.)

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether, in view of the expressed intention of the Government to set up a Business Committee as the complement to their scheme of revision of the Rules of Procedure, he can now take steps to give effect to that intention, so that the time for the various measures now before the House may be apportioned by that Committee?

SIR F. CHANNING (Northamptonshire, E.)

Will the right hon. Gentleman consider some more elastic procedure than the decision of a Business Committee?

MR. ASQUITH

The matter is under consideration. Such a Committee could only be set up by something approaching general consent, and I regret to find that much difference of opinion prevails as to both its constitution and its functions.
