HC Deb 14 May 1908 vol 188 cc1315-6
MR. GEORGE ROBERTS (Norwich)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that candidatures for temporary clerkships in his Department are restricted to persons above the age of 20 and under 25 years of age; and whether he will have this restriction, which is not in force in other Government Departments, removed.

MR. MCKENNA

The limits of age applied to candidates for employment as temporary clerks in the Admiralty Departments have been adopted as best suited to the requirements of the service. If they should be found to militate against the selection of the most suitable clerks, they will of course be reconsidered.
