HC Deb 14 May 1908 vol 188 c1330
MR. ARTHUR HENDERSON

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has considered the Report and recommendations of the Departmental Committee dealing with accidents on buildings; whether he purposes adopting any or all of them; when such regulations may be expected to take effect; and whether any proposal is contemplated requiring the contractors for large works to provide suitable hospital accommodation for injured workmen.

MR. GLADSTONE

Yes, Sir, I have had the Report of the Committee under my consideration. Their recommendations cannot be carried out without further legislation, and I propose to introduce a Bill in the present session to give me the necessary powers. In the meantime, the question of the regulations is necessarily postponed. The suggestion in the last part of the Question is outside the scope of the Factory Acts.
