HC Deb 13 May 1908 vol 188 c1156
MR. O'SHEE (Waterford, W.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Estates Commissioners have an application from Edward Coleman, an evicted tenant, of the Grant Estate, County Waterford, for reinstatement on their files; how long have they had the application; whether he is aware that Mr. Coleman has died since the application was lodged, and that his children are still awaiting restoration to his former holding; whether the same is in the possession of the owner; and what steps have been taken to acquire the lands in order to reinstate them.

MR. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners received an application in 1904 from Edmond Coleman, then resident in New York, for reinstatement in a holding from which he was evicted in 1880. The Commissioners decided to take no action in the matter. Coleman died in 1906, and his daughter subsequently made a application for the holding, which is held under lease by another tenant. The Commissioners do not propose to take any action upon this application.
