HC Deb 12 May 1908 vol 188 cc907-8
MR. SLOAN

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if the present tenant of the evicted farm formerly held by John M'Quade, on the Irvine estate, near Ederney, County Fermanagh, has expressed his willingness to accept the amount offered by the Estates Commissioners as compensation for his interest in the holding; and whether the landlord has refused to sell to the Commissioners, and, if so, do they intend to take steps to acquire compulsorily the holding, with the view to the restoration of M'Quade, who was listed over three years ago by the Estates Commissioners as a proper person to be restored to his farm.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The present occupier has expressed his willingness to accept the amount offered by the Estates Commissioners as compensation for surrendering the holding, but the landlord has refused the price offered by the Commissioners. The matter is still under the Commissioners' consideration.
