HC Deb 11 May 1908 vol 188 cc732-3
MAJOR ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland whether, having in view the evil effects of the circle trawl in the upper reaches of the Firth of Forth, whereby large quantities of immature herrings are destroyed, the bulk of which have been disposed of as manure, causing loss to the fishing communities on both sides of the Firth of Forth, he will cause a searching inquiry to be made into the matter with a view to taking such action as may be necessary.

THE SECRETARY FOR SCOTLAND (Mr. SINCLAIR,) Forfarshire

Investigation shall certainly be made into this matter, which has not hitherto been brought under my notice.
