§ MR. CROOKSTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he can inform the House how many licences were in existence in London for two-wheeled horse-drawn hackney carriages, four-wheeled, and mechanically propelled cabs.

The numbers of hackney carriages which were licensed by the Commissioner of Metropolitan Police in 1907 were as follows: 5,952 two-wheeled horsed cabs, 3,866 four-wheeled horsed cabs, and 723 mechanically propelled cabs. The corresponding figures for the year 1906 were 6,648, 3,844, and 96.
