§ MR. SMEATON (Stirlingshire)I beg to ask the Prime Minister if he can now say whether there will be an autumn session, and from what date it is likely to commence.
§ MR. ASQUITHI think that an autumn session is inevitable; but I cannot at present forecast the date at which it is likely to commence. I am glad, judging from the cheers of hon. Gentlemen opposite, that they approve this.
§ MR. WILLIAM REDMONDWill the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind the recommendations of the Select Committee to allow the House to adjourn early in the summer?
§ MR. ASQUITHMy sympathies are entirely with the hon. Member.
§ EARL WINTERTONIn view of the need by hon. Members to make engagements some time before, will the right hon. Gentleman consider the advisability of making an announcement by Whit-suntide?
§ MR. ASQUITHI will not say by Whitsuntide, but I will consult the general convenience.
