HC Deb 07 May 1908 vol 188 c410
MR. MITCHELL-THOMSON (Lanarkshire, N.W.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty whether H.M.S. "Highflyer," of the East Indian section of the Eastern Fleet, has sustained damage to the main crank-shaft; what is the extent of such damage; and whether a new crank-shaft is to be fitted at once.

MR. MCKENNA

An extended fracture has developed in the main crank-shaft of the starboard engine of the "Highflyer," and this is now being temporarily repaired at Bombay to enable the vessel to return to England using both engines, when the new shaft will be fitted.
