HC Deb 05 May 1908 vol 188 c62
MR. MYER (Lambeth, N.)

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether in any scheme for the relief of the unemployed he will consider the advisability of making any grant of money, to be at the disposal of stipendiary magistrates, for the relief in certain cases of the wives and families of those offenders who have been convicted under the First Offenders' Act, and whose offence has been committed as a result of starvation or destitution.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. JOHN BURNS,) Battersea

I am not in a position to make any statement on the question of unemployment. The whole subject will receive full consideration from His Majesty's Government in connection with the Report of the Poor Law Commission.
