HEALYTo ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he can state the amount of the Insurance Fund accumulated under The Local Registration of Title (Ireland) Act, 1891, Section 92; how many claims on this fund have been received and allowed; and whether it is intended to continue to levy stamp duties, which in some cases are oppressively high, to add to the fund.
(Answered by Mr. Runciman.) I am informed that (1) the amount of Insurance Fund up to 28th March, 1908, was as follows:—
£ | s. | d. | |
Consols | 10,789 | 12 | 10 |
Cash | 890 | 4 | 2 |
£11,679 | 17 | 0 |
§ and that (2) one claim has been received and allowed. It is not considered desir- 300 able to discontinue the fees for insurance on which the safety of the system of conclusive registration depends, or to consider the question of reducing them until after further experience of the working of the system.
