MR. CROOKS (Woolwich)

To ask the Secretary of State for War if he can state the result of the long inquiries which have taken place with respect to the wages paid to the workmen who are classed as packers by the Ordnance Store Department, Woolwich Arsenal, as these men were promised an increase of wages to start from 1st January, 1907.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The rate of wages now paid to packers is that of labourer, 23s. a week, with an additional pay of 2d. to 4d. a day, according to skill. This rate has been approved with effect from 1st April, 1907.
