I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether, having regard to the fact that the list of large repairs to be completed during the financial year 1906–7, referred to in the statement explanatory of the Navy Estimates 1907–8, included the armoured cruiser "Leviathan" and the protected cruiser "Ariadne," and also to the fact that their repairs were there stated to be practically complete, be will give the reason why, in the Admiralty explanatory Memorandum to the Estimates, these ships were declared to be still undergoing repairs.

The repairs were not actually finished on the 31st March, 1907, and some part of the work, therefore, fell upon the first few weeks of the following financial year, viz., the year 1907–8 as shown in the First Lord's Memorandum for 1908–9.
