HC Deb 24 March 1908 vol 186 c1206
*SIR CHARLES DILKE (Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean)

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he had received a telegram from Vancouver from a large meeting of British Indians, which was held in the Sikh Temple, protesting against deportation and exclusion from Canada.

*MR. MORLEY

I received the telegram from Vancouver to which my right hon. friend refers. The only addition I can make to that statement is that I have the matter under my very careful consideration and I am discussing it with the Indian Government and—in concert with the Colonial Office here—with an envoy of the Dominion Government of Canada with the hope of bringing to an end, if possible, this extremely difficult, intricate, and possibly dangerous question.
