HC Deb 23 March 1908 vol 186 c1059
SIR G. KEKEWICH (Exeter)

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury why Second Division clerks of old standing in the Savings Bank Department of the Post Office have not been allowed to exercise the option, given by Clause 5 of the Order in Council of 21st December, 1907, to choose between continuing on the scale of salary now in force or adopting that prescribed by the Order, seeing that the Order offers the option to all Second Division clerks without distinction.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) My hon. friend has asked me to answer this Question. An opportunity of exercising the option given by Clause 5 of the Order in Council of 21st December, 1907, is being afforded to all the Second Division clerks in the Savings Bank Department of the post Office, with the exception of those who are excluded from the operation of Clause 5 under the terms of Clause 1 of the Order in Council of 19th March, 1908.
