HC Deb 17 March 1908 vol 186 cc410-1
MR. FELL (Great Yarmouth)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if his attention has been called to the looting of the colonial trading schooner "Minota" and the massacre of her captain by natives at Tulagi, in the Solomon Islands; if the Government has any man-of-war in the neighbourhood which can be sent there to restore order; and what steps he proposes to take in the matter.

MR. J. A. PEASE (; for Mr. CHURCHILL) Essex, Saffron Walden

The Secretary of State has no official information as to this incident, but will inquire of the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific. As Tulagi is the headquarters of the resident Commissioner for the British Solomon Islands Protectorate, it may be presumed that any steps necessary to restore order have already been taken.
