HC Deb 12 March 1908 vol 185 cc1753-4
MR. HAROLD COX (Preston)

I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has yet had under his consideration any proposal for the renewal of the Liverpool and Hong Kong mail contract; and whether, before giving his assent to any renewal of the contract for this service, he will satisfy himself that the terms of the contract are in accordance with the letter and spirit of the declaration made by the Prime Minister in this House on 27th March last.

MR. ASQUITH

The Question of the renewal of the contract is now under the consideration of His Majesty's Government, and the statement made by the Prime Minister on 27th March last is being fully borne in mind.
