HC Deb 11 March 1908 vol 185 c1499
MR. COURTHOPE

To ask the Secretary of State for War whether arrangements have been made for placing the defences of any county in charge of the Territorial Force of that county.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The Territorial troops allotted for the garrisons of strategic points will be taken from the county or counties nearest to those strategic points, but generally speaking the Territorial Force will be used for the general defence of the United Kingdom.
