HC Deb 09 March 1908 vol 185 cc1097-8
MR. WEIR (ROSS and Cromarty)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether the Admiralty have yet decided on the compensation to be granted to the young girl who resides with her widowed mother at Saltburn, Ross-shire, and who was injured and permanently crippled by gunners from H.M.S. "Cæsar" during gun practice in the summer of 1906.

MR. LAMBERT

The question of the amount of compensation to be paid to the injured girl is at present under consideration.

MR. WEIR

Has any offer been made to the girl?

MR. LAMBERT

Yes, but the parents refused it and the matter is now under consideration.

MR. WEIR

Was it an offer of 1s. or 1s. 3d. per week for life?
