HC Deb 09 March 1908 vol 185 c1123
MR. T. DAVIES (Fulham)

I beg to ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, what precautions are taken to prevent the introduction of foot-and-mouth disease through the importation into Great Britain of the meat, hides, and offal in a raw state of animals which have been landed and slaughtered at Continental ports, but which are prohibited by the Orders of the Board from being landed and slaughtered at the foreign animals wharves in Great Britain.

MR. J. A. PEASE (; for Sir EDWARD STRACHEY) Essex, Saffron Walden

This subject has been frequently considered, but the adoption of precautionary measures in the cases of the articles in question has always been considered to be impracticable.
