HC Deb 09 March 1908 vol 185 c1120
SIR EDWARD SASSOON

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Education whether children attending a contracted-out school will be excluded from the benefits of the scholarship schemes administered by the local education authority and maintained solely out of public money.

MR. MCKENNA

No, Sir, not necessarily. The Bill in no way limits the liberty which the local authorities now enjoy in making schemes for their own scholarships.

SIR EDWARD SASSOON

Will the right hon. Gentleman indicate that to the authorities so as to prevent any injustice being done?

MR. MCKENNA

The existing law is not changed on the subject. The liberty the authorities now enjoy they will continue to enjoy.
