HC Deb 05 March 1908 vol 185 cc856-7
SIR GEORGE FARDELL (Paddington, S.)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he has had sufficient time to consider the Report of the Departmental Committee appointed to inquire into the accounts of local authorities, dated 8th July, 1907; and, if so, whether he contemplates issuing regulations based on the recommendations of such committee, so as to ensure the preparation of accounts of all local authorities on sound and uniform principles, especially where statements of profit and loss are required.

(Answered by Mr. John Burns) I have given consideration to the Report of the Committee referred to, and I hope to give -effect to many of their recommendations. I propose, in the first instance, to deal with the accounts of rural district councils; and regulations with respect to these are in preparation.
