HC Deb 04 March 1908 vol 185 c683
MR. GULLAND

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland, with reference to the opinion of the Local Government Board for Scotland in its last Report to the effect that it is illegal to provide organs for use in poorhouses out of the rates, whether he is aware that organs are provided by the Prison Commissioners for the prisons in Scotland; and whether he will take steps to have poorhouses put upon an equal footing with prisons by making it permissible for parish councils or poorhouse committees to purchase such instruments when so desired

MR. SINCLAIR

The point will be considered when legislation on the subject of Poor Law administration is contemplated.

MR. GULLAND

Cannot what is asked here be done by Ministerial act?

MR. SINCLAIR

No, sir.
