HC Deb 04 March 1908 vol 185 cc668-9
MR. REES (Montgomery Boroughs)

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has any information regarding the number of His Majesty's East Indian subjects in Nyassaland.

THE UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Mr. CHURCHILL,) Manchester, N.W.

I regret that I am unable to supply the hon. Member with exact statistics, but I understand from the Governor of Nyassaland, that, exclusive of the soldiers of the Indian contingent, there are some 300 or 400 of His Majesty's East Indian subjects in Nyassaland.
