HC Deb 03 March 1908 vol 185 c525
DR. RUTHERFORD (Middlesex, Brentford)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the fact that Egypt is still without a modern University, he will urge upon the Government of His Highness the Khedive the imperative need of establishing such a University without further delay.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir EDWARD GREY,) Northumberland, Berwick

I would refer the hon. Member to Paragraph 98 in Lord Cromer's last Report, from which he will see that the Egyptian Government is quite well disposed towards such a scheme, but I cannot say more at present.
