HC Deb 02 March 1908 vol 185 cc342-3
MR. MYER (Lambeth, N.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Education whether, under Section 3, Sub-section 3, together with the first schedule to the Education Bill, the transferors of a denominational school can arrange that there shall be no Cowper-Temple religious teaching as part of the school timetable after transfer.

MR. MCKENNA

It is hardly possible within the limits of an Answer at Question time to explain particular provisions of the Education Bill satisfactorily, or to attempt interpretations of particular expressions in it. Questions on the Education Bill, apart from questions of simple fact, whether as to the exact purport of the Bill or as to the intentions of the Government, are, I think, better asked and replied to (as a rule) at a time when they can be debated. I will gladly do my best to deal with the point referred to in the hon. Member's Question if he will raise it at a suitable occasion in the course of our debates on the Bill.
