HC Deb 30 June 1908 vol 191 c589
MR. BOTTOMLEY (Hackney, S.)

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether he is aware of the system under which wholesale millers, tobacconists, provision merchants, and others are in the habit of establishing numbers of tied houses where the tenants are compelled to carry on their business in accordance with the conditions laid down by such wholesale firms; and whether he will consider the desirableness of introducing legislation to deal with the matter.

MR. ASQUITH

I am not aware to what extent the state of things described in the Question actually prevails, and I see no necessity for any legislation on the subject.
