I beg to ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether any applicant who is refused land by a county council has the right of appeal to the Board of Agriculture.

No specific right of appeal is given by the Act, but the Board will take into consideration any representations which they may receive.

Is it not the duty of the Small Holdings Commission to see the applicant gets the land?

It is their duty to see that all applications are considered.
