HC Deb 25 June 1908 vol 191 cc71-2
MR. NIELD (Middlesex, Ealing)

To ask the Secretary of State for War whether he has under consideration the award of a medal or some other decoration for the officers, non-commissioned officers, and men who took part in the Bechuanaland expedition of 1884–5; and, if so, when the distribution is likely to take place and, seeing the length of time which has already taken place, if he will do what he can to expedite it.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The grant of a medal for this expedition was refused by my predecessors on the grounds that there were no active operations to justify it. I see no reasons for departing from this decision.
