HC Deb 01 June 1908 vol 189 cc1533-4
MR. VINCENT KENNEDY (Cavan, W.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if his attention has been called to the fact that there is no provision in any Act of Parliament under which sanitary authorities can proceed against parties who cause pollution of rivers or other public waters when the same is caused by sheep dipping; and will he say whether, now that sheep dipping is compulsory and in view of the serious danger to the public and damage to all animal life, he will take steps to deal with the matter, if necessary, by legislation.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Government cannot undertake to deal with this matter immediately, but the question will receive full consideration when any further public health legislation for Ireland is being undertaken.
