§ MR. LEVERTON HARRISTo ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the quantity of tobacco grown in Ireland respectively in the years 1905, 1906, and 1907; and what was the amount of Excise paid upon it.
(Answered by Mr. Lloyd-George.) The quantities on which duty was paid are as follows:—
The gross duty paid in each year amounted to £1,103, £3,026 0s. 6d., and £10,291 16s. 3d., respectively, or (after 1515 deducting the rebates mentioned in the Answer to the preceding Question) to nett sums of £735 11s. 8d., £2, 113 9s. 5d., and £6,896 11s.
