HC Deb 01 June 1908 vol 189 cc1526-7
SIR GEORGE FARDELL (Paddington, S.)

To ask the First Commissioner of Works if he can see his way to have the gateway in the Bayswater Road, opposite Albion Street, now used by equestrians and foot passengers entering Hyde Park, so altered as to allow the passage of private carriages into the park, there being only two entrances available for carriages on the north side of the park, namely, Victoria Gate and the Marble Arch, as against four on the south side.

(Answered by Mr. Harcourt.) I fear that I cannot give the hon. Member any assurance that this gate will be opened to carriage traffic at present. It would involve the employment of two extra park-keepers, for which no provision has been made in the Estimates. I am quite prepared to consider the matter for next year's Estimates.
