DUNDAS WHITE (Dumbartonshire)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War what have been the amounts of public money allotted to aeronautical work during each of the last five years and this year; and, in view of the paramount importance of the command of the air, what steps are being taken for the further development of this branch of the service.
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. HALDANE,) HaddingtonThe expenditure upon aeronautical work has been—1903–4, £14,600; 1904–5, 1482 £19,150; 1905–6, £23,600; 1906–7 £20,750; 1907–8, £16,500. The estimated expenditure for 1908–9 is £13,750. Such steps as are considered necessary are being taken in connection with the further development of this work.
