HC Deb 29 July 1908 vol 193 c1453
MR. NANNETTI (Dublin, College Green)

To ask the Postmaster-General if he can say what is the cause of the delay in appointing a sub-postmaster to the vacancy which exists at Dunleer, County Louth, Ireland; whether it is intended to appoint a constable who is at present a member of the Royal Irish Constabulary, and who is a candidate for the position; whether there are any other candidates for the vacancy; and, if so, will he fill the position without further delay.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) The sub-postmaster of Dunleer, Drogheda, has given notice of his intended resignation, but he is not due to relinquish his appointment until 23rd September next, three months notice being necessary. A new sub-postmaster will be selected as soon as the necessary inquiries regarding the qualifications of the various candidates have been completed.
