HC Deb 22 July 1908 vol 193 c104
MR. LONSDALE

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he has received information of an attack upon a civil bill officer at Kanturk, West Cork, by masked and armed men; and whether the assailants were arrested.

MR. BIRRELL

A process server has alleged that on 15th July two disguised men stopped him on the road near Kanturk and took two writs from his pocket and tore them up; and that they then fired two revolver shots in the air and decamped. The police have no evidence on the subject beyond the process server's allegations, and it is a significant fact that, though the process server passed the police station immediately afterwards, he made no complaint to the police.
