HC Deb 21 July 1908 vol 192 cc1736-7
MR. MITCHELL-THOMSON

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether he can now state the Government's decision with regard to the All-red Route; and whether the principle of subsidising such a scheme has been definitely accepted.

MR. ASQUITH

I cannot add anything to the Answer I gave in reply to a similar Question by the hon. Member for Mid Armagh on 9th July.

EARL WINTERTON

asked, having regard to the fact that the question was raised a year ago, whether a statement would be made before Parliament rises.

MR. ASQUITH

I am dependent in this matter on the Committee. I can assure the noble Earl due expedition is being made in the proceedings.

MR. HAROLD COX

asked the right hon. Gentleman to bear in mind the declaration of the late Prime Minister against subsidies.

MR. ASQUITH

Yes.

MR. BYLES (Salford, N.)

May we take it that nothing definite will be done till the House has had an opportunity of discussing it?

MR. ASQUITH

I must ask for notice of that Question.
