HC Deb 21 July 1908 vol 192 c1727
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland, in view of the fact that the last Report of the Fishery Board for Scotland shows that although the fishery cruser "Vigilant" was detailed for duty on the West Coast of Scotland, she was kept fully employed within the Clyde area during the greater part of last year, and only made an occasional cruise to Minch, will he consider the expediency of arranging for the new cruiser to be stationed off the Northwest coast of Scotland, especially bearing in mind that during last winter there were numerous complaints of illegal trawling off Gairloch and off the coast of Lewis.

MR. SINCLAIR

The station of the new cruiser has not yet been definitely fixed. So soon as she has been built and become available for duty the question will be decided according to the exigencies and requirements of the service at the time with due regard to the claims of different sections of the coast.

MR. WEIR

Can the right hon. Gentle man say when the new cruiser will be built? The matter has been a long time under consideration.

MR. SINCLAIR

No, Sir.
