HC Deb 21 July 1908 vol 192 c1725
MR. LAURENCE HARDY

I beg to ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether he can state how many outbreaks of gooseberry mildew have been detected in the county of Kent; in what manner the Board propones to deal with them; and whether he will undertake that the Board will support any measures, however drastic, which the local authority may consider necessary to stamp out the disease.

SIR EDWARD STRACHEY

Three outbreaks have been detected, and they are being dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the American Gooseberry Mildew Order of 1907. The Board will gladly take into immediate consideration any proposals that the local authority may make with a view to the eradication of the disease.
