HC Deb 20 July 1908 vol 192 c1460
MR. REES (Montgomery Boroughs)

To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been called to a resolution of the Montgomery County Council urging upon His Majesty's Government that services of a national character should be paid for very largely out of national funds and less out of local rates, as recommended by the Royal Commission on Local Taxation in 1901; and whether he proposes to afford local bodies any relief in this respect.

(Answered by Mr. Lloyd-George.) The whole questions of the relations between Imperial and local taxation is under the consideration of the Government, but I am not in a position to make any statement on the subject at present.
