HC Deb 14 July 1908 vol 192 cc611-2
*MR. STANIER (Shropshire, Newport)

I beg to ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he can give any information as to the death of horses at Bennett's Bank, Wellington, Shropshire, when six horses died and others were taken ill during the week of 29th June; and whether the Board made inquiries as to the cause of death of the horses.

SIR EDWARD STRACHEY

From inquiry made it would appear that the cause of death in the cases to which the hon. Member refers was accidental poisoning.

*MR. STANIER

Are the Board making further inquiries, as I understand traces of arsenic have been found in one of the animals?

SIR EDWARD STRACHEY

Yes, the matter is still being inquired into. The inquiries are not yet completed.
