HC Deb 14 July 1908 vol 192 c594
MR. HUDSON

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that the firm of Messrs. Clark, Chapman and Company, Gates-head, are not paying the engine-fitters now engaged on H.M.S. "Defence" at Pembroke Dock in accordance with the fair wage clause; will he state what are the actual wages and lodging allowance paid to these men on this work sent from the Tyne district; and what action does he propose to take in the matter.

MR. MCKENNA

The Admiralty is not aware of what wages or allowances are being paid to engine-fitters in the employment of Messrs. Clark, Chapman and Company, on board H.M.S. "Defence"; but the question will be referred to the firm for their observations.
