HC Deb 10 July 1908 vol 192 c223
MR. J. MURPHY (Kerry, E.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Estates Commissioners are now prepared to take steps to acquire the untenanted land on the McCartie estate, county Kerry, which is now for sale in the Land Judge's Court; whether this land is urgently needed for the evicted tenants and for the enlargement of holdings in the district; and whether he will impress on the Commissioners the necessity for taking action to procure the land without delay.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) I refer to my reply to the hon. Member's previous Question of 25th June, when I stated on the authority of the Land Judge's Court that no portion of the estate referred to consists of untenanted land. If, therefore, the Estates Commissioners should purchase the estate, they cannot buy any portion of it as untenanted land.
