HC Deb 09 July 1908 vol 192 cc67-8
MR. CLAUDE HAY (Shoreditch, Hoxton)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps, if any, he has taken to insure that firms enjoying the Royal Warrant or applying for the Royal Warrant observe the particulars clause and other regulations under the Health and Factory Laws.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. GLADSTONE,) Leeds, W

As I have already said, I have nothing to do with the grant of the Royal Warrant to individual firms. All I can say is, that firms holding the warrants are subject to the same regulations and inspection as other firms, and that, if any failure to observe the Factory Act regulations comes to the knowledge of my Department, action will be taken.

MR. CLAUDE HAY

Two months ago the right hon. Gentleman promised to make certain representations. Can he now say to whom they have been made and what was their nature?

MR. GLADSTONE

Representations have undoubtedly been made, but I should like to have notice of the Question.
