§ THE UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Mr. BUCHANAN,) Perthshire, E.The Government of India have reported that the latest news received of Dr. Sven Hedin was in November, when he informed the local official at Leh in Kashmir by letter that he was going to winter in Khotan in Chinese Turkestan and expected to return to Leh in the course of the summer. Further inquiries are being made; the Resident in Kashmir, the special assistant at Kashgar and the trade agent at Gyantse are being asked whether they have any information.
