HC Deb 09 July 1908 vol 192 c43
SIR GEORGE WHITE (Norfolk, N.W.)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the committee now sitting to deal with the question of imprisonment for debt can be given powers to consider the fees now charged to litigants in County Courts.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Gladstone.) I have considered this question and consulted the Treasury, but I am afraid that the proposed extension of the reference would not be practicable. The subject is one quite foreign to that of the committee's inquiry.
