MR. HORNIMAN (Chelsea)

To ask the Prime Minister whether a letter has been received by him asking for the appointment of a Royal Commission for England and Wales, to be appointed on the lines of the existing Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments and Constructions in Scotland; and whether the letter was signed officially by the right hon. Lord Avebury, on behalf of the Society of Antiquaries, by Sir E. J. Poynter, Bart., President of the Royal Academy, and by Mr. T. E. Collcutt, President of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

(Answered by Mr. Asquith.) I have received communications from the bodies mentioned recommending the appointment of a Royal Commission for England and Wales.
